Utah Carol

I busted out a CD I haven't listened to in several months called The Rough Guide To Americana. It's a compilation of multiple artists that attempts to expose the listener, as the title implies, to the musical genre known as Americana. I like most everything on the disk.

Track 16, "My Fear" by Utah Carol, jumped out at me tonight. The music is very clean and the vocal harmonies are sweet on the ears. So I decided to do a little research which inevitably led me to their myspace page.

The song I mentioned above is from their debut release, and is 7 or so years old. They've released two other records since then. There are four tracks from their most recent release you can listen to from within myspace, and I'd encourage all four of you to give 'em a listen. Really beautiful music if you ask me, and not at all 'countrified' for those of you that know my musical tendencies.

Since I know you, obviously, I can understand your connection to this music. I imagine you listening to it, and relaxing as it calms your wired, busy brain, and you sink back into your office chair, totally at peace. I, however, listen to it and wonder "Where's the drums? Where's all the noise? The scratchy voice or yelling?" But no, it is very pretty music, to say the least. I wouldn't mind having this to listen to at all. I'm wondering where the band name came from, and does she do the bass sound on her keyboard?
